OUR legacy
James Dayley and Penny Allred-Dayley founded the original Two-Bit Street Café in 2003, and together nurtured the business for over 20 years.
The area around them grew and evolved, yet Two-Bit had become a bastion of Ogden’s history and unique character. From Penny with award-winning recipes to James using his extensive experience in the entertainment industry, their combined efforts made Two-Bit become a café in its own league.
Locals and visitors alike would congregate to enjoy O-town’s staple eatery, enjoying not just the meals but also performances by the ‘Magical Mysterious Mister Dayley’. Countless customers visited from all around the globe, and we treasured every interaction. Every day was a new experience, complemented by the setting of our location, complete with walls of historic memorabilia and our personal journeys.
But as all good things must come to an end, so did Two-Bit Street Café in 2023, due to our lease ending. Sudden change can be difficult, and we didn’t want to leave, but decided this was an opportunity to begin a new challenge.
In the years prior, Andrew Shorts was hired on. A background in hospitality made him right at home with customers, and his creative/entrepreneurial spirit wasn’t lost on James and Penny either. A natural fit, Andrew was welcomed to absorb the insights from the Dayley’s 20 years’ experience while he continued to help run the café.
Following the closure, Andrew was offered the privileged opportunity to help carry the proverbial torch of Two-Bit with Penny as his mentor. This transition of ownership has allowed Penny to spend more time enjoying the kitchen, while still providing support for the larger operation.
Now launching Two-Bit Bistro; same great recipes with brand new experiences.
